House Routes Indy Boyz 14-1 On The Road
Last Saturday, June 24th, Chicago House A.C. defeated Midwest Premier League newcomers, Indy Boyz, in Whitestown, IN 14-1. The much needed three points vaulted House into second place with nine points, ahead of the other three clubs also with nine points in the standings based on goal differential heading into play this weekend.
The offensive outburst was a record for most goals scored in a match for House in their third season of play.
“For us mentally, it was good to see the ball in the back of the net. I think in the last couple games before this we created a lot of dangerous, dangerous chances and for whatever reason – it was wide, the keeper makes a save, we mishit it – it didn’t get into the back of the net.” Said Head Coach and Technical Director Matt Poland. “So, I think it was important for our guys, especially the attacking guys, to see the ball in the back of the net was the most important take away from the game.”
House started the match strong with two shots on goal in the first minute and found the back of the net for their first goal in the second minute on set piece when Shannon Seymour sent a corner kick to Jack Kramer. Shortly after, House made it 2-0 in the 9th minute when Ricardo Avalos converted on his own penalty kick, scoring his first of two goals in the game, the latter coming in the 68th minute. Also scoring in the first half was Isiah Gallegos-Munoz on a cross from Damion Iamarino that deflected off a defender in the front of the goal in the 26th minute, Alejandro Mentasti in the 29th, Pau Mateo-Chacon in the 33rd and House Captain A.R. Smith in the 40th.
“We came out with high energy, and in a game like that that’s the most important thing. It was good to come out strong, in the first 30 seconds we created a chance which was good,” said Poland on the team’s strong start. “To get the early goals is a little bit challenging at times because you want the focus to continue and to not drop the intensity, and we did well finishing out the first half. At that point it was 6-0 and the biggest thing in the second half was being disciplined and seeing out the game.”
Staying focused and finishing the match proved not to be a problem, as the side added eight additional goals in the second half. Leading the attack was Gallegos-Munoz who notched a hattrick with two additional goals early in the second half in the 52nd and 53rd minutes. Also scoring in the second half was Georgi Spasov on a pass from Isaac Carnalla in the 71st minute. Aaron Nguyen tallied a brace with two unassisted goals in the 82nd and 88th minute. Smith also got a brace with a goal in the 84th on a nice bit of passing between him and Gallegos-Munoz. Jhon Alzate also got on the board with an unassisted goal in the 86th minute. Indy Boyz lone goal came in the 61st minute by number 21.
Poland hopes the commanding road victory can be the spark the team needs to find continued offensive production, “It can go either way. It can breed overconfidence and maybe lead to arrogance, but you don’t want that. You want it to have the positive affects like seeing what happens when we finish our chances, and hopefully it keeps us hungry for more games, obviously not with that scoreline, but with that type of play and not to get complacent after it.”
Next up for Chicago House is a RWB Adria, who also owns nine points with three games in hand in the standings, having only played four games heading into this weekend.
“Adria is a game where we need to be disciplined first defensively. They have a lot of talent, obviously, so any late to step or any out of position moments they’ll punish us,” said Poland of Wednesday’s opponent. “The other aspect with it is that we need to be disciplined enough to finish our chances we create. Every game this year we’ve created dangerous chances and we just haven’t been clinical in every game, so hopefully we can continue to be clinical like we did last game.”
House’s next home match will be played on Wednesday, July 5th at 7:30 PM at DePaul College Prep. To watch the complete game, including all the goals from last weekend, click here.
